a couple of weeks ago another forum I used to visit closed down because the admin was too busy to keep running it.
what happens if our Admin should ever be too busy or fall ill (let's hope he will live to a healthy 150 :) ) or gets eaten by a tiger?

And what happens to all brilliant posts if this place shuts down? :p I thought I was writing for posterity. ;)

heeheee. seriously, the other day i though, "hey actually litnet summarizes all the current issues/theories/debates of our age (except politics)" wouldn't it be a shame if it crashed or something? wouldn't it be much nicer to send a copy of lit net into outer space so that aliens can read our posts and get to know the human race? ;)

Well I'm young so it should last a long time.
There are also nightly backups of the database.
If something were to happen to me. The moderators have contact information for my family for them to find out. Then I imagine the site would be sold to someone.

thanks for the info, Admin
another question: how big is Litnet in giga bites or whatever unit is used?
or does it say somewhere in the forum stats? *goes to check*

Ya, I hope this site stays open for a long while, at least until I'm a teacher so I can corrupt my students by telling them to go here: then I can spy on them, hehe.....let's see how many of them ask for help with the essays I give....and what my response will be....glorious!

I will surely spend more time on LitNet after seeing those very revealing pictures, Virgil. Hot!

  I don't know if you know what that is in reference to. I just had to make it clear how out of place I would be at Sleepy's sauna parties. :p

the forums take up about 800 megabytes of storage.
The main site around 1.4 gb.

...thats just raw data by the way, it doesn't include the actual files/software and any uploaded avatars etc. That all adds a few gigabytes.

thanks :) so it's small enough to send it to outer space on a probe, so the aliens can read it :alien: :) *joking*
Virgil, you had me laughing out loud...   I've only laughed out loud because of something on litnet once before :)

If the litnet ever closes, I will have to go back to the wilderness...for forty days and forty nights, fasting and meditating.

That must have been disappointing to find out a forum you frequented was gone. I would really be sad if this one closed down, but I think that we are safe -- glad admin posted. :)
Oh, and those pictures of you, Virgil, made my day too! :)
