Sad Cafe

Put off tomorrow,
The things we needed done today—
Procrastination…

Eyes always ahead,
Looking out for what maybe—
Missing all the now…

When the kids are gone,
Just pictures, reminders of
Times we just let slide…

It was a fast life—
Runaway train nowhere—
Try to reverse time…

Sitting with my life,
Assorted pictures taken here
And there. Lie in box…

To late turn back clocks—
Mirror reflects geezer, shock!
I’m getting older…

Tragedy. When you
Lose control and got no soul—
Music out of date…

its a joy to speak
your name out loud on my lips
so simple a task

my mind is awash
imagining your entrance
shall i turn my head

did you hear my heart
whispering longings of you
beating so loudly

youth calls out to love
forever glancing forward
not until its over

did we know the truth

no-one must know what you hide
ignore the cruel pain

painful emptiness
tell me what I am doing
here? If anything

smile and laugh out loud
everyone loves you, or so
they say when you smile

you hide so well your
fears, from those who 'know' you best
play their game, you must

for a time at least...

echoes of old ashes
faintly linger on breeze—
forgotten longings…

images flicker on
a broken television—
what might have been, if…

static received,
but message is meaningless—
lost in the ether…

why do I undertake
to put the pieces together
they are so scattered…

seems impossible—
never underestimate
the will of one man…

maybe I’m not great—
some cruel, deem me foolish—
but I’m like a rock…

hit me and shatter—
if I fall you may be crushed—
weather every storm…

just look at me now…

Mountain Morning

Took a morning walk—
Need the exercise, they say:
Dog along—potty…

Sky turning clear blue,
Killdeers singing happy tunes,
Sunlight on my face…

Gentle smell mown hay,
Small Blue Heron on riverbank,
Blacksnake out for sun…

Amazing things missed,
Busy people rushing past—
And they think me weird…

To find joy in songs
Of the birds treetop choir—
Colors wildflowers…

To behold a snake,
And marvel, gently hold it—
Find salamanders…

Pet the bats in caves,
Turtles, lizards—unafraid
Track a bear for fun…

Watch a fox in den,
Know how many pups she has—
My mountains are home…

Your, Mountain Morning. Felt like I was there too. I enjoyed the walk.

I have published poems before in magazines with a fair success rate. I copyright my stuff because I might put out a poetry book one day. I always like to know when I wrote the poem. Glad you liked the poem, it combined several walks, but I have done all of that and more.

Sadness On the Mountain

General feeling
That something just might be near—
A sixth sense?

Unmarked trail I’m on
Leads so far up the mountain—
Maybe touch the sky…

Feel hair on my neck
Begin dancing, ethereal
Music I can’t hear…

Something eerie here—
Skeleton of an aircraft,
Now showing in pines…

I walk over there—
Company Learjet I surmise—
Nobody got away…

Air is sorrowful
In shadows, forest graveyard—
Here, they lost their lives…

My Mountain is tall,
I respect its rules, father,
But I must admit…

This mighty one knows,
Neither comfort nor pity—
You can die up here…

The things that bring joy,
Fogbound covered, whiteout mean:
Another bites the dust…

Becomes your last rest…

gunshots rip the quiet,
another drive-by shooting, who
did they kill this time?

gangbang, its our turf—
can’t kill us if we shoot first,
pass me the nine-mill…

blood is thicker than
water, but that means only
takes time go down drain…

brother fights brother,
killing innocents over
implied insults, yo…

look at thin red line
running towards sewer drain—
might have saved a life…

now it marks a spot,
where senseless murder occurred—
where a life was lost…

Think about it now…

Can't remember where this came from but, it's been on my computer for ages - Enjoy!

Twice five syllables,
Plus seven, can’t say much but…
That’s haiku for you.

You never feed me.
Perhaps I’ll sleep on your face.
That will surely show you.

You must scratch me there!
Yes, above my tail! Behold!
Elevator butt.

I need a new toy.
Tail of black dog keeps good time.
Pounce! Good dog! Good dog!

The rule for today
Touch my tail, I shred your hand
New rule tomorrow.

Grace personified.
I leap into the window.
I meant to do that.

Blur of motion, then…
Silence, me, a paper bag.
What is so funny?

The mighty hunter
Returns with gifts of plump birds…
Your foot just squashed one.

You’re always typing.
Well, let’s see you ignore my…
Sitting on your hands.

My small cardboard box.
You cannot see me if I
Can just hide my head.

Terrible battle.
I fought for hours. Come and see!
What’s a “term paper”?

Small brave carnivores
Kill pinecones and mosquitoes
Fear vacuum cleaners

Want to trim my claws?
Don’t even think about it
I’ve got three legs left to get you.

I want to be close
To you. Can I fit my head
Inside your armpit?

Wanna go outside.
Oh, no! Help! I got outside!
Let me back in right now!

Oh no! Big one
Has been trapped by newspaper!
Cat to the rescue!

Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams!
My claws aren’t that sharp.

The big ones snore now.
Every room is dark and quiet
Time for “Cup Hockey”

beome an angel dancing

May I ask who cries—
For the ones just misunderstood,
Trying hard to live…

In a world unwanted
Tears carve canyons on faces,
People never see…

Never knew there was
So very many ways pain
Could rip you apart…

Raise my glass to
The man already dead, buried
To the next who dies…

Look out my window
Crowds people hurry along—
May I ask who cries…

Does anyone shed tears…

Does anyone shed tears?
Friday I watched shed tears; surprised
Emotion, sad Jo

Jo's mother has died
Your friends sip their coffee, guilt
in their eyes. Bad, sad

They had forgotten
that she is gone from jo's life
whispers, "she told me"

Jo, gone to the loo
to cry in peace, forgiving
her friends who forgot

Sue: I know she...
Jon: was it cancer? My fault...
Me: no, I'm to blame

Euthenasia
Quality not quantity
Of life...take it back

Two years they have passed
But the pain remains with Jo
Her fear? Mother tell

Truth, was it your time?

Truth, it was cancer
Change the subject, she's back...
Jo, are your okay?

She sips her coffee
"So sorry," she whispers
Help wipe away tears

Desparately we
Move on to simpler matters
Than death with coffee

Coffee on Friday...

As long as I lie...

Wondering what's next
what will tomorrow bring me
and all of those thoughts

Do not worry, friend

Thanks to you my buds,
I could not make it alone—
But I don't have to...

Appreciate all
The poems, pictures, e-mails, wishes—
Calms my fears a bit...

I walk a harsh path
But it makes a better man
Forged in the flames...

I was arrogant
Once, thought myself above others—
Now, I know the truth…

Man is a shadow—
Legacy one leaves behind
That is important…

I want mine to be
Engraved upon marble stone:
“He never surrendered”…

Not unworthy odes,
Can there be such blasphemy?
I will not deride...

Manners cost nothing.
If you may not praise, say naught.
And now, time factors...

My illness limits
The time I may be on-line
I have much to do

I cannot get all
But others will speak as boldly
Give as good advice...

You should heed their words...

For ‘Dole

Why would a poet flee
Just when his poetry flowers?
When he touches hearts...

Why run away now,
When the voice changes sweetly?
Harmony comes through...

Why hide the talent
Beneath a bushel basket
Where no one can see?

Write your lines, publish
them to the Forum, share with us
the song in your soul...

We still need you, 'Dole...

for our lives are very short
here now, and then gone

Sing a grateful song
to our friends who stand by us
without them we sink

Sing a humble song
for things we take for granted
no matter how small

For it is truly
in quiet retrospect that
we stop and give thanks

 That is BRILLIANT, tailor! I love anagrams, but anagram haikus are a new one on me. Well done!

PS Good on you, too, kev. Remember forever and look for me there. I'll be the one in the bunny suit. :)

I just tried one. The anagrams were done line by line. It's really hard to get the new lines to meet the syllable requirements for a haiku.

This was the my original:

LitNet bangs along.
Whither the moderators?
Flown like autumn geese.

Here is an anagram version that works (also about the LitNet mods):

Long banal setting!
Hither a shrewder motto:
Know guileful easement.

And here is Miss Congeniality: more likable than the winner but defective in form. :)

Gallantest boning!
A metered, whorish troth.
Weakening. Useful motel.

Thank you Danik 2016 !

(lol) Enjoyed your offerings PB... I've done a few anagrammatic poems line by line, such as "The Road Not Ken: Ta !" (since revised)... http://www.online-literature.com/forums/showthread.php?79288-Avant-Garde-Poetry-Contest-2&p=1267962&viewfull=1#post1267962 (hardly a haiku though... more a gambol through "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost)... keeps the mind young.

On looking back - where have all the poets gone ? (sigh)

7/25/2019... the link seemed to jump... TRYING AGAIN... anyway it's in the Avart-Garde Poetry Contest.

Love your Haiku too !

I used the poem generator for mine and then did a (not so massive) creative overhaul using the Poet's Desktop website for thesaurus & pondering :)

Here in the ol' US of A it's National poetry month. It's been cool to get prompts and helps via the simplistic but helpful AI. When my google docs allow I'll send the link to view my current poem projects... and "A Gathering of Poems" with my latest poems, almost all salted throughout LitNet... and some of my poems from the last few years - which is still very incomplete from my other laptop. My other two poetry web pages are still active but woefully neglected and need a severe dusting off and updating from "A Gathering of Poems". My book... "A Poet in Garden Valley" still in perpetual revision (got to get a copy to my sister for her Birthday in July !!!). Ah, the link came up... https://docs.google.com/document/d/11aqXRnbXpQvAz0Hyx_SCY3OifsPxMOt4G9_3yz4XFo8/edit?usp=sharing
