View Full Version : Another Guessing Game

I've decided that I'm tired of keeping everything under wraps - it requires too much effort, and prevents me from celebrating some of the things I most want to share with my friends here.

I've come to a decision - that I'm old enough now that I can take care of myself, and that no one would be crazy enough to stalk me (not with you all to back me up, anyhow). So...after a few rounds of guessing, a la the Robin's Age thread...I'm willing to reveal my country of origin.

...what? I know, it's not exactly putting my name and number on the line, here, but considering how long I've spent trying to prevent people from guessing what hemisphere I'm in, it's a big deal for me. Any takers?

I'm willing to reveal my country of origin.

Isn't this a bit slippery though. Knowing your country of origin doesn't mean we actually know where you are now. Ah well, we'll take what we can get.

welll lets see you said once there is a reason you ccan speak spanish, you also once a comment about proms that means you have got to have spent a signifcant amount of time states side, because who else in all the world makes uch a fuss over parties?

Also there is the increible knowledge of american comics, which arent that easy to come by in anyt of the places Ive lived, although I suppose a true enthuisas wouldnt mid forking ou masses.

Also the cartoons thread might help as we know his ages and the things he watched.

All in all I think you are from 'The Western World' most likly the states or somewhere where there is alot of spanish spoken but you may not actually live there...might explain not seeing your girlfriend in person for ages.

So I guess your an expat with links to the states (either your from there or you go to one of the many many 'American schools' dotted around the world).

Miss Darcy
01-04-2007, 04:34 AM
you also once a comment about proms that means you have got to have spent a signifcant amount of time states side

I didn't know they called it "proms" in the States...I thought that was just British (here in Australia the terminology is "formals")...but it seems I'm wrong. I don't really know much about American customs, anyway. Though I do know they like to spell "colour" without the beautiful, wonderful U... :D

Nightshade

(http://www.online-literature.com/forums/search.php?searchid=274235) Of course, it is true that I have more posts without the 'u' than with it (16 to 6)...but then, there are so many reasons why that could be. :brow:

Canada? that's an English-speaking country, isn't it? ;)
Puerto Rico?
some squiggly little island?
Hong Kong???? Singapore??? they have English as a first language, don't they? but it doesn't explain the Spanish... (I'm still obsessed with the idea that Robin is Chinese)
a south-western US state where there are lots of Spanish speakers?

Nightshade
01-04-2007, 07:55 AM
eerem Im english and I spell it either way in fact somntimes I just leave out the second o altogether:p but the inconsistancey in the spelling does lend to the in an american school idea, I was in one and the grammer book was english, the comprehension was american and I think the handwriting books were Australian.... so generally people were left confused :D

True, Cuppa. But if you might want to check out his story, The Vigilante's Gambit, and you'll be surprised to see a lot of "u" and the replacement of "s" in the words where it's supposed to have a "z" in it. (I don't think he intended that one. But I may be wrong.) And I've also encountered "realise" and "colour" in his posts, can't remember where.

He's just a sly and a sneak. Haaay, Robin...:p

I previously thought of him as a European. Maybe an American now.:D

Nightshade
01-04-2007, 02:36 PM
umm landi the word are supposed to have s in them its only the americans who spell things like realise with a z.

what we need is a audio of him sing the abc's then we'd figure it out not time.

Laindessiel

I didn't know that. :crash:

Nightshade
01-04-2007, 02:44 PM
well actually I tell a lie the american spellings tend to be more phonetically correct and easier to spell so are adopted by alot of not ex-british colony countries as well as quite a few of them.

All right - I said there was a reason why I spoke Spanish in my posts from time to time. The reason was to mislead you all.

The capital of the country in which I live is indeed "A" - capital letter, that is.

And if memory serves, it was not a mere ONE British colony, but thirteen...

Nyeh...fine. :p

Yes, 'tis a former British colony...

I live in a former Spanish colony country. And lived with them for 350 years.

You a Yankee, Robbie?

Aye, Lain - I'm a Yankee. Can't play baseball worth a lugnut, but I'm a Yankee...

Speaking of whom, where IS Lizzie...? I've begun to fear the worst again...

Rob, a fellow yank! Although I can't claim true Yankee-ness, unless us West Coast Yanks count. And don't feel bad about not being able to play baseball . . . I was always picked last . . . can't throw, can't catch, can't hit, what else? Ooh, can't run too fast, either. I like to think it takes talent to be so incompetent. :D And is Spanish a second language, then?

I've been quite well, thank you, Archer - though enormously busy as usual. How've you been?

My dear mir, he did! He lives in a former colony of the British Empire...not just one, but 13 original colonies.... Get my drift, wink wink nudge nudge, say no more??? :p ;)

Yeah well it was obvious that the answer was the most boring one... Still, there are moments when I could have sworn he's a Brit. Oh well, no one is perfect ;)

Are you implying that being an American is bad, Koa? :) (Don't take this too seriously, I'm just a rabid patriot, that's all...and yet I love the mother country as well, ha ha!)

You live in one of the original thirteen colonies? Lucky....I definately live on the wrong side of the coast.

This thread should be re-named "Mysterious Mysteries...about Robin."

Hmm, miss Lily...I thought "foul fetid excetera Philadelphia" was in Pennsylvania, which is one of the original 13. Did you move to the West Coast recently? (sorry, not trying to be nosy...)
Oh yes, the thread should be re-named...but then we run the risk of encouraging Robin. (joke!)

Unfortunately (for you ;)) I am a Brit-addict, so being Brit always adds some points to it. I especially definitely prefer the British accent over the American ones. :p

mmm . . . *daydreaming about british accents*

hem! :p Sorry, i do see where Robin posted his place of residence. Must have missed the post.

Now we just need to know which colony, so i can go call him up if he's a Pittsburghian! :D

...Has anyone seen Love Actually or specifiaclly thise scene...

Colin: I have just worked out why I can never find true love.
Tony: Why's that?
Colin: English girls. They're stuck up, you see. And I am primarily attractive to girls who are... y'know, cooler. Game for a laugh. Like American girls. So I should just go to America. I'd get a girlfriend there instantly. What do you think?
Tony: I think it's... crap, Colin.
Colin: No, that's where you're wrong.
[smiling]
Colin: American girls would seriously dig me with my cute British accent.
Tony: You don't have a cute British accent
Colin: [excitedly] Yes I do! I'm going to America.
Tony: Colin, you're a lonely, ugly arsehole. You must accept it.
Colin: Never. I am Colin, god of sex. I'm just on the wrong continent, that's all.

soory for the languge but I thought putting starts would make it seem even worse....

Ahaha, yes. I like my locations to match my avatar/signature sets. I live in Southern California.

So which of the thirteen colonies...? You said you're a yankee, so I'm guessing New England.

Yahee! Wahoo!

As for Lizzie, you have all the means of making contact with her. Surely you have her email address and phone number? (I mean if you are THAT close, which I'm sure you are.)

Rob, a fellow yank! Although I can't claim true Yankee-ness, unless us West Coast Yanks count. And don't feel bad about not being able to play baseball . . . I don't understand the policies and rules of baseball. At all. Aaaat all.

Neat! I'd always been sure you were a charming Brit. Now you're a charming American. :p

I thought so too. First, I thought he was British. Then when he said he knew Zhang Ziyi, he became Chinese. Then an American, and then, because of his posting times, I thought he was somewhere from Europe. (He can't post for 3 hours starting 6am? I thought.) What made me think he's an Amerikano then? Well.... I'll keep it to moiself. *keeps Robin wondering again* :goof:

I can't believe I missed this all last month. Where was I?

So Robin is a fellow American. Yay. You should have picked an American super hero, say superman or batman or actually I can picture you as spiderman. ;)
