Being the mother of 2 kids, I have watched my fair share of cartoons and I've decided that Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends is one of the greatest cartoons ever made, followed closely byThe Tick, Dexter's Lab and Courage, The Cowardly Dog. I also don't mind Spongebob but Nickelodeon has the tendancy to play the heck out of things and I'm starting to weary of Spongebob and especially, Sandy. I really hate Ed, Edd and Eddy and while I love the character of Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, I can't stand Billy, he makes the show completely unwatchable for me. I also intensely dislike Fairly Oddparents because all anyone does on that show is yell. And then of course there are the more adult oriented cartoons like The Simpsons, Futurama and Family Guy, Space Ghost and one of the funniest things I've ever seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Tell me what your favorite cartoons are from your childhood or what you're watching now and I also want to know which cartoons you can't stand.

Oh, when I was eight or nine, there used to be a lot of cartoons in our TV but now a days, no good cartoons are coming. I don't know why, Pakistani TV is giving more stress to adult stuff now. (Or maybe I am missing cartoons because I don't watch tv much now.) Well, I used to like Tom And Jerry, Thunder Cats and Ninja Turtles a lot! They were my favourite! And I will still like to watch them if they ever come on TV!

It was always He-man when I was growing up.
I have stopped watching TV save for sport & CBC news now so I have no idea what cartoons are shown anymore.

I was and still am a fan of Bugs Bunny. The old ones, from the 1940's and 50s. I like the Simpsons too. SpongeBoB is cute sometimes as well.
I occasionally watch Family Guy and Southpark, both can be funny at times, but at others simply annoying. American Dad is by the same people who do Family Guy but I really do not like it at all. Irritating.

Omelette du fromage!!
Yes, Dexter, I CAN read your mind, and I AM smarter than you.CLASSIC series, a must see for all would-be nerds.
Besides the classic Looney Tunes, I've also loved SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron, Thundercats, and Voltron (based on what little I saw of it). I also like Avatar: The Last Airbender (in my opinion, the only good show left on Nickelodeon), and liked Teen Titans and Justice League: Unlimited, before they were both cancelled. :bawling:

LLLOOOOVVVEEE Dexter's lab, having grown up as the "smart, nerdy" sister in a family of five kids, I was in heaven when McDonald's started giving Dexter's lab toys with the happy meals...
South Park is a must for me, keeps me up on current events, lol :D
I've watched Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Ed, Edd, n' Eddy many times, in fact the latter I think I used to watch every day, but more because it was the only thing on that I was willing to watch at the time than out of interest...
A cartoon that I think a lot of people might have never heard of is "Underdog," it used to play on Nickelodeon...and I loved it at the time. I guess it wasn't too popular, though, because it quickly went off the air. I used to run around eating grapes and pretending they were "super energy pills" like the ones he kept in his wristwatch or ring or somewhere like that...he was a sort of super-puppy, lol
edit: How could I forget the adventures of Billy and Mandy?!?! I love Mandy and Grim to death, and Billy is just silly...love that show

I really like Avatar too, if I see the boys watching that I'll usually sit down and join them. They still watch Teen Titans on something, I'll go ask what...Cartoon Network. I'm sure it's just reruns but still, it's something.
Underdog is an OLD cartoon, Shannanigan. You are talking about this guy (http://web.utk.edu/~hunderw1/graphics/underdog.gif), aren't you? Or is it something new?
I forgot about Looney Tunes, I remember how excited my brother and I would be when we would catch the big 'opera' numbers, the Barber of Seville and then the other one...what was it...Ride of the Valkyries? I actually like Tiny Toons too, it's never one anymore but I enjoyed it when it was.
Dexter is so awesome, I think it's the ridiculous accent that makes me love him and thanks to him, I can now order and cheese omlet in French so it's even educational. ;)

I was forbidden television so I spent a lot of time in hotels catching up.
Same with my children. As a result we all know every word of every cartoon we ever saw..
It's like blood. They are historical documents.
When I was a kid, I loooved Transformers, Voltron, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now, I don't really watch any, occasionally I watch Spongebob on Saturday mornings, and the occasional Futurama and King of the Hill, beyond that not much else.

HOO-rah, Underdog!! "Never fear, UNDERDOG is here!!"
Idril, I believe you're referring to the famous "What's Opera, Doc??" with Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd - it's a parody of Wagner's Nibelungenlied, if memory serves.

Yes, yes, that's it, Robin! Bugs was wearing a viking hat so I immediately thought Valkyries. That was our favorite one, they played it so rarely so it was a special day indeed when it was on. We would get up early every saturday morning, climb the cupboards to get our cereal and tang and then cuddle up on the couch (my brother and I were the usual kind of siblings, we actually got along) and just rot for 3 or 4 hours. It's too bad that kids don't have that experience anymore, cartoons don't hold that special place in their hearts because their viewing isn't limited to 4 hours on a saturday night.
I also love The Tick. SPPPOOONNNN!!!!!!!
Did you ever see the live action Tick?

Well, at any rate, this whippersnapper remembers the beloved Underdog. Vaguely, but I remember him. It's a pity -- they don't make 'em like they used to. Now a lot of it's animated drivel.
And don't be ashamed, Idril -- the song that went "Kill da wabbit!!" went along to Valkyries.

Tom, of course! I don't know, but there's something seriously wrong about Jerry.
Through early childhood, I suppose I watched the common cartoons, such as Looney Tunes and Disney cartoons, always loving Alice In Wonderland, especially.
As a growing child, however, I suppose I had a very strange sense of humor (then again, what has changed?); for a while, I really liked Ren and Stimpy, which perhaps some of you remember. Soon, later, I got a bit into The Simpsons (of course, as an Oregonian), Daria, King Of The Hill, and Family Guy.
Nowadays, I watch fairly little television besides movies, but will now and then flip through an episode or two of The Simpsons, King Of The Hill, or Family Guy. :D

I remember Ren and Stimpy, they always kind of freaked me out though. There was something about how they looked and the animation that I just didn't respond well to. I remember Daria as well, and I really liked that one.

Yes! I have watched more Pokemon than I would've liked. ;) Only the first version though, with Ash, Misty and Brock, I think there have been other versions where Ash has different travelling companions but my kids had moved on to Yu-Gi-Oh by that point which believe me, was not an upgrade.

When I was little cartoon hour was limited really to 4 hours on a thursday morning (barring the videos of course) and maybe if we werenty late getting home from school and the news wasnt too important and non of those really interesting programs like hard talk or Holiday ( this was before that Jill Dando lady was shot it sort of went down hill after that) oh and tommorows world and horizon etc.
Sesme street was big , the poppins, Mask ( not the green one, the 80's one with venom (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088563/))
square one ( mind you I only watched that for the bit at the end )

Spongebob Squarepants

Dexter's Laboratory
Johnny Bravo

Ren and Stimpy bothered me...
I know, there was something so disturbing about them. I had a friend who thought it was the greatest show in the world and I really tried to like it but I just found it really, really disturbing...much like the cow and chicken one that meloncolia mentioned...I belive it was called, simply enough, Cow and Chicken, that was also much more upsetting than entertaining for me.
I never watched He-Man as a kid but my kids were into it for about two months when they were younger. It was seriously one of the cheesiest things I've ever seen. Did you ever watch Kablam! on Nickelodeon? One of the shows they had on there was some truly bizarre thing called Action League Now and one of the "characters" was a naked He-Man action figure, I think he was called 'the flesh' or something like that and there was Stinky Diver...does anyone else remember that?
RobinHood3000
08-12-2006, 10:49 PM
Aye, I remember that. ACTION LEAGUE...NOW!! was one of the many alternative-animation sketches on "Kablam!"
Personally, I liked that one with those two roommates, I forget their names, one short and one tall, one blue and one something else...gah, my memory fails me.

Wedon't watch TV anymore but for a couple years when I was 8 or so, we would watch Loony Toons, Tom and Jerry, and Popeye every Staurday morning. I love them!
My five year old sister Candace can do a flawless impersonation of Olive Oyl's "Oh, Popeye!!!" (any time, any place, too!)

I asked my son about that because I couldn't really remember them but he thinks you might be talking about the narrators, Heny and June. They did have their own sort of storyline but they also introduced all the other shorts and June had blue hair, is that who you mean? I always enjoyed Prometheus and Bob, that was the one with the caveman and the alien and there was also a monkey that would occasionally show up. They still show those on Nickelodeon once in a great while and it's always a thrill when I catch it.

...Why? Cartoons are wonderful. Anything can happen in a cartoon. Plus they're fun to look at and draw. I loooooove drawing cartoons.
I like Dexter's Laboratory, Freakazoid, Pinky and the Brain, Animaniacs, Earthworm Jim, and I know this isn't a cartoon but it has cartoons in it and it is a kid's show-but I ADORE PeeWee's Playhouse. That is my favorite kid's show ever.
