4 pious male witnesses! 4 pious male witnesses!

Rape cases are registered under the draconian Hudud laws, under which, a rape victim who complains against the rapist risks being accused of adultery. The victim failure to prove her accusation is considered as confession to adultery (or fornication) for which the punishment is stoning to death.

Testimony by Women and non-Muslim witnesses are considered inadmissible under Hudud laws. So, in a rape case, where there are only women or non-muslim witnessess the rapist goes unpunished.

Generally:

1 muslim male witness = 2 female muslim witnesses = 2 non-muslim witness

The discrimination between male and female witnesses is sanctioned by islamic religious tenets which deem that women are dishonest.

And the most incredible thing is that majority of muslim women do not think they are being exploited.

I saw these statements on another topic, but before I could reply the topic was closed. I hope the admins will allow me to answer these false statements as they could not be further from the truth. I have already spoken on the issue of adultery before, but it seems that some people just can't help but confuse facts with with their preconceived notions of what Islam is supposed to be. I suppose it's more fun that way.

Here are the quotes from the holy Qur'an on the issue of adultery and admission of witnesses.

[24.1] (This is) a chapter which We have revealed and made obligatory and in which We have revealed clear communications that you may be mindful.

[24.2] (As for) the fornicatress and the fornicator, flog each of them, (giving) a hundred stripes, and let not pity for them detain you in the matter of obedience to Allah, if you believe in Allah and the last day, and let a party of believers witness their chastisement.

the above case refers to punishment of those who commit adultery as single (not married) people

[24.3] The fornicator shall not marry any but a fornicatress or idolatress, and (as for) the fornicatress, none shall marry her but a fornicator or an idolater; and it is forbidden to the believers.

[24.4] And those who accuse free women then do not bring four witnesses, flog them, (giving) eighty stripes, and do not admit any evidence from them ever; and these it is that are the transgressors,

[24.5] Except those who repent after this and act aright, for surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

[24.6] And (as for) those who accuse their wives and have no witnesses except themselves, the evidence of one of these (should be taken) four times, bearing Allah to witness that he is most surely of the truthful ones.

[24.7] And the fifth (time) that the curse of Allah be on him if he is one of the liars.

[24.8] And it shall avert the chastisement from her if she testify four times, bearing Allah to witness that he is most surely one of the liars;

[24.9] And the fifth (time) that the wrath of Allah be on her if he is one of the truthful.

[24.10] And were it not for Allah's grace upon you and His mercy-- and that Allah is Oft-returning (to mercy), Wise!

As you can see, in the instance of adultery, when there aren't 4 witnesses, the woman's word is held higher than that of the man! It is simply a lie to say that, according to Islam, woman's testimony is not permissable or valued.
