Have you read The Painter of the Signs? If so, you know how the women were portrayed.
"Cultural" means anything created by humans that is not strictly biological, so the second question can be answered almost any way that anyone might like to answer it.

Apparently, only people want to insult you. If I had read it, i would have helped you. Try sparknotes.com, but its not very likely its there.
hope it helps.
Oh and also, if you find it, don't directly quote it. Profs troll that site like mad.

Do your own damn homework.
Hello, morpheus.
Unfortunately, I have never read A Passage To India by E.M. Forster, though I have hoped to for some time now. I fear that I can only recommend you to visit here (http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/passage/) - a site explaining the novel character-by-character, chapter-by-chapter, and has summaries, analyses, etc.
Good luck, and I apologize that I could not help more. ;)

Do your own damn homework.
I want to get a taperecorder (or the online equivilent) and have it be an auto-function of the forum everytime it detects a slacker.
