Screenplays - Need Help

Screenplays rest almost entirely on external description. For those of you who've read anything I've written, you know already I deplore what I regard as irrelevant details.

Since I am weak in this area I need someone who is strong in it to give me some advice on how to go about "making it real". Dialogue, by far, is the easiest part of a creative work; scenery is without a doubt the most difficult (at least for me).

I appreciate advice/suggestions/feedback from anyone who has any experience in this area.
