Hello everybody, I have just joined the group. What I am interested in nowadays are that:

Does a writer include his/her daily or permanent mood into his/her lines? How much do they include their mood into their writings? does their mood increase or decrease what they write? how much do they get effected from what they write?

I have started a new project about these questions.. Any ideas?

Hello Aegean Breeze

you need to put square brackets around your code :) and your text inbetween them of course, the "/font" being at the end of your text.

As far as writing, the kind that I do which is mostly non-fictional, I can't let my everyday changing moods affect it, that would be unprofessional and I'd never get anything done.

But I bet you're referring to writers who do fiction?

Hi, Aegean Breeze and welcome to the group. What an interesting quesion you’ve asked. I think everyone’s different but like Logos said more or less if you allowed your moods to affect your writing generally it wouldn’t be a good idea. I don’t let my happy moods interfere when I’m writing something sad but I do pull upon past experiences to get the sad mood I need for the story and vice versa if I'm sad.

For myself, and I write fiction, I think the story has moods of its own and whatever mood I’m in doesn’t change how I write or think about the story. My mood doesn’t increase of decrease what I write either. The only thing that does that is being too tired to write or not having enough time to write or suffering through writer’s block. But I think it varies for different people.

Also, I am not a published author but we do have a few here and I bet they’d be happy to tell you what they think. In fact, you'll probably get more or a response with your question if you post in the general chat section. But again, welcome to the group and I hope you’ll stay a bit. :)

I am a published fiction author (starving/garret-with-spider-webs variety) and I never write unless the Muse inspires me. Which means I go through relatively brief periods of frenetic writing and long periods of no writing. But I don't worry about it. Inspiration will come when it comes and there's nothing I can do to rush it.

It was very different when I was a newspaper reporter. I had to write like crazy every single work day, which was quite exhausting. Journalism can teach the basics of writing clearly and concisely, but otherwise it is poor training for fiction writing.

I don't write fiction often—almost never anymore, in fact—but I would say that my moods do affect my writing. If not the overall outline of the story, then at least the ways in which I word dialogue, or if I decide to kill off a minor character, for instance. My method is very amateurish and impulsive, though, admittedly, being that I'm nothing but an impulsive amateur. I tend to dive into the middle of a story already in progress, and figure out what's going on from there, so to speak. Most of the time it turns out to have been a false alarm. :p But, to answer your question, I generally let my moods govern the realm of sub-plots, and keep the overall story to its original framework.

Sometimes when I write, I'll be in such a different mood than the way the present story is going that I have to jump to a new part. Kind of like what you said, emily:

I tend to dive into the middle of a story already in progress, and figure out what's going on from there, so to speak.

I have to keep a separate piece of work running at the same time that includes spare bits of the story, kind of a like puzzle pieces. Usually, it's all dictated by what mood I'm in.

hi Breeze...nice question...well..u've already read what my friends have said here...n believe me they're all excellent writers...
as far as what i think(which i rarely do)...ur mood does affect the way you write...but u shudn't let that happen if u want a gud result of ur efforts...writing for one's own journal or diary is different...in a journal entry one usually(always!) pens down his thoughts the way they occour...not trying much to arrange them!
But any writer is careful while wrting fiction or poetry...there u write for and thru the charecter...and not about how u feel!
