I wonder if the people who already voted realize they need to re vote. Tough choice for me. They are all very good.

"Don't matter who they are, anybody sets foot in this house, they are company and don't let me catch you remarking on their ways like you were so high and mighty."
Seems like this competition is very close as well!

Congratulations to qimissung, who is the winner of our Summer Poetry Contest!
Summer Light
The Old Masters claim the morning,
White, gold, dignified,
The common man bent to his labors,
The sun glinting off the millwheel of life,
The river of humanity putting their shoulders to it still-
Tradition prevailing amidst the humidity and smog.
Gaugain owns the afternoon,
The blazing sun, the violent colors,
Untamed nature rampant,
The Haitian scenes transplanted to an urban
Landscape; people lunching, shopping, swimming,
Drinking, living under the white hot sun.
In truth, if not in reality, we all inhabit
Gaugain in the afternoon.
Monet paints the evening in dusky blue,
The scene awash in a softer light,
Twilight blurring the edges together;
Life is languid; a lady in a white, a small
Child holding a poppy, a crowd of people
Moving into a darkened theater.
We are a melding of color in
The pearly summer light.
Van Gogh is the night, all lit up with
Stars wheeling across the sky,
His hand applies the paint, slashing down swiftly,
Striking the surface with heat
Lightening under a full, swift moon.
We gaze, swirl our tea,
Sigh, and go inside to sleep.
I would like to thank everyone who has taken part.

I have been trying to locate the entries, but could not find them, to my dismay because I did want to vote. I still would like to read the others if someone can direct me to the page. I just read the one that won and thought it was stunning. Of course, I would favor that one being an artist myself and able to relate. I loved it qimissung - you are a very fine visual poet! Good choice and congratulations!
Virgil, I imagine the president votes for himself. I didn't find it that strange that you did vote for your own poem. I do want to read it. I know you work hard for these contests. Sorry, I asked you for the link, but you did not send it to me...please don't be mad at me for not voting...most likely I would have voted for qimissung since I like the artists' correlations.. I am in the process of reading the short story entries for the current contest. I read half and have the others to complete; and then I will vote.
