how do you express your poetry?

what do you try to say or convey? and is it always about the same idea?

I usually and mainly write about everyday things and it is always away from me. I am not the center of its expression. I like to take my distances with words. It is not about me or my friends it is about life things in general.

I would like what I write to present a positive, heart-felt view of the world. I know that sounds stupid. What I want is for the reader to enjoy whatever I wrote. Positive, heart-felt views are more enjoyable (and probably more true) than depressing, whiny views of the world. I like to include nature, but it is about a fantasy nature with some fantasy action in my head. Unfortunately, I'm not that observant of the natural world.

Some poets are confessional. When they use "I" or "we" they are talking about themselves. When I use "I", I am usually talking about some "idiot" I am pretending to be at the moment.

This entirely depends on what I'm writing. Sometimes a poem starts with an abstract idea, other times an everyday observance, other times I just have fun playing around with words, images, forms, patterns, and figurative language without any concern for what it means. I've generally come to believe that poets make poor philosophers, so it's best not to try and get too abstract unless your name is Wallace Stevens.

I wish it was me XD However, it is Chris Pohl, the lead singer of my favorite band. And yes, darkness can evoke fear and degradation. But, darkness can evoke much MUCH more.

I have to admit I am no dark lover. I feel degradation has no place in literature at all sorry this not to get at you at all I find it makes one depressed and so I could not begin to read it let alone write it. I find writer who do it fascinating because I do not know how they do it and more the point why they do it.

I stretch from self absorbed to observant. Depending on how the mood takes me. The reason for this is to better understand my own feelings. Simple really.
