    Aka: God

“I am who I am,” said God
    (reportedly) to Moses.

Then what of the rest of us?
Are we not who we are?

The true believers, by that reckoning,
are blasphemers, and those of us
who can not or will not believe
are the most hungry for God.

Ah, but are we, or are we just hungry for certainty. I wonder what kind of atheist I am, a sort of half-hearted one who feels guilty about it, perhaps I'm not sure that I follow the logic of the believers/blasphemers argument. Surely, a believer can believe in God as being a God who is what he is whilst still accepting themselves for what they are without being blasphemous...

Regardless, it's a pleasure to see you flitting through anyway.

    Live and be well

I'm not all that sure myself about the logic of what you cite, although the "Aka" in the title might be seen to support that what many think of as "God" is indeed a plausible certainty. The seed of the poem lies in my reading about what we Jews refer to as "the Holocaust." Although I was already a non-believer, I thought if God was intrinsically omnipotent and merciful, it must have been some other 'God' who witnessed but didn't interfere with that (and many other instances of) genocide. To believe in that historical God was therefore a blasphemy against the Judaeo-Christian one. (Or One)

And thank you for your always careful reading.

We are also who we are, but only by His Grace.

E.g. Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler. Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, Bashar el Asaad etc.?

Whoever. Except that WE have made some of those arses go up in flames and will do the same with the others sooner or later. You be careful about it. I think we have demonstrated enough. We provide Baptism by Fire. AKA: WE the people, by the people, for the people.

Indeed. Interesting. Poems about God are always a statement of our beliefs.
We are who we are but whether we know what we are is a completely different matter.
God knows that he/she knows but I have feeling we do have no idea what we are and so my thought to this piece is this: wonder why we are and then who we are and possibly may be will ever know what we are.

Nice piece by the way Prince I enjoyed it

' I am what I am' said Gloria gaynor, in her perennial disco classic.
Good to see you around Prince. You are a God of Litnet.

    For those who believe,
    no explanation is necessary.
    For those who do not,
    none will suffice.
