    Happy Birthday!

    An interview with Dramsnot06:

Why are we doing this interview thing?
Hmm…I can’t answer for anyone else but I’m probably doing it because I’m an unashamed narcissist.

Are you sure you want to do this?
    With all my heart.

    Got milk?
All the soymilk in the world.

If you had a personal theme song what would it be?
One Girl Revolution by Superchick or The Gambler by…I think the original is by Kenny Rogers.

    Are you male or female?
    Female.

What makes you keep coming back?
The good memories and the gratitude. Litnet isn’t as much of a regular, major source of social fulfillment right now as it was when I discovered it but it’s provided me with a lot of entertainment, friendship and sometimes desperately needed procrastination.

Are you happy with the way things are here?
Generally. The mods are great people who do their job well. It’s really the most interesting and well-run forum I’ve come across so I can’t complain.

    Which countries have you visited?
Malaysia, Italy, England, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Costa Rica, Mauritius and Singapore…off the top of my head.

If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?
Taiwan, Singapore or a major city in China. In Taiwan and China I can practice my Chinese and learn about Chinese culture hands-on. Singapore is perhaps the best place in the world to eat/shop.

    Do you have any pets?
I have one dog named Hunter. She is a Treeing Walker hound.

    What makes you happy?
Good food, exercise that I enjoy, good food, my boyfriend, small children, most animals, classic films, reading the New York Times and feeling empowered as a woman.

What is mankind's biggest achievement, and its greatest downfall?
Our greatest downfall is the institution of white male privilege and our inability to form a completely secular society, the two often walking hand-in-hand. Our greatest achievement is the institution of the liberal arts college and the establishment of public libraries.

Which actor should play you in a movie based on your life?
    Salma Hayek

Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?
    A mycocepurus smithii ant.

What makes you feel great about yourself?
Getting really good comments and an A on a paper.

How did you meet your significant other?
    At a book club

    Who inspires you most?
Very strong women who have suffered more than I ever will.

What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)
I am very loud, dramatic and good at sexual innuendo. I have often gotten in trouble for combining the three.

What is the one thing you must do before you die?
    Save the world, of course.

If you had to teach something, what would you teach?
A whole course on a feminist reading of Frankenstein.

What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?
I would regret either not having kids or having kids but giving up any my career to have them.

What method do you cherish above all others, as means to improving your life?
Hard work and more hard work.

What is your role in an emergency situation: the 911 dialer, the person who runs to the scene to help, the video recorder, or the person too overcome by shock to do anything?
Either of the first two. I always take on the leadership role in an emergency situation.

What song is in your head at the moment?
    Halo by Porcupine Tree

Which book are you reading at the moment?
An ethnography called “Poor Kids in a Rich Country.”

The last book you finished reading?
    An ethnography called “Opting Out.”

    What is your favourite quote?
It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness- Chinese Proverb

    Favorite food?/ Comfort food?
There is so much to list! Pretty much any vegan dessert that involves chocolate. Fruit salad, peanut and jelly and tofu are high up on my list, too.

What time of day do you most often find yourself on the LitNet?
    Any time, really.

What are you wearing at the moment?
A skirt from Indonesia , sandals, and a black t-shirt.

    Favorite poem?
I love so many poems by ee cummings…it’s impossible to choose but surely one of his.

First novel you remember reading on your own?
I think a Road Dahl book.

What era do you find most of the books you read are from?
    Eclectic.

    Favorite TV shows?
The Office, Arrested Development, The Simpsons, Mad Men, Six Feet Under, Dilbert, and The Critic .

Which LitNet members would you like to meet in person if you could?
All of them! I’ve already had the pleasure of meeting two very special ones.

    Favorite post on the Forum?
    One of jon1jt’s poems.

    Favorite thread?
    All About Nietzsche.

    Last food did you have?
Vegan Green Tea Ice Cream Pie that my friend made. Amazing stuff.

Last words you said out loud?
    “Rawr.”

    Last person you hugged/kissed?
A friend at the Naked Art Show I attended last night.

What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?
    Student! Love it.

What would you like to be if you could change your profession?
Who doesn’t want to be a student forever? Haha, but really my dream job is to become the UN Secretary General.

    Least favorite book/song/movie?
Some sort of awful romance novel/ some rap song/ some awful romantic comedy.

What was your very favorite moment in your life so far?
A moment after a particular crisis when I realized how strong a person I was.

    What scares you?
When I see little girls who have already been socialized to act subservient to men.

What is your most outstanding feature?
My leadership abilities and social insight.

If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?
    I’d be taller.

Which book do you wish you had written?
    The Handmaid’s Tale

What is your favorite book cover?
    One of the Abarat covers.

Most and least favorite characters from books?
Lady Macbeth is my favorite and the husband from “The Butcher’s Wife” by Li Ang is my least favorite

What would your biography be titled?
    The Mouse Who Roared.

What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?
Writing an essay or doing Chinese homework.

Which literary character (s) have you been told to resemble the most?
Portia from The Merchant of Venice

List some of the things that annoy you immensely.
Religious fundamentalism and white male privilege, which, once again, walk hand-in-hand.

Anything that you want to forget but you never can?
    Sure but that’s life.

Tell us about some amusing translation mistake you have heard or made yourself.
In Chinese class we were practicing compliments and this one really macho guy used the word for “I” instead of “You” and said “I feel that I am exceptionally pretty.” It was just really funny at the time.

If you had to lose one of your senses, which would you choose and why?
I’d like to stop seeing dead people.

What’s the first thing you’ll do in an embarrassing situation?
    Stumble over my words.

Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?
Happiness is a dynamic, not a static state. I am simultaneously “mostly happy” and in pursuit.

    What gives your life meaning?
    Fighting the good fight.

    What makes you laugh?
When my boyfriend uses funny voices or sings.

What was the happiest period of your life and why?
It’s right now…I’m young and passionate, what more could I want?

Do those animated smilies ever get tired? Think of them day after day, dancing or crashing computers or laughing or crying till the end of time...
Ah, but this raises the philosophical question “When no litnet members are around to see the smilies, are they still there and doing their thing?”

One final word of wisdom for LitNet users?
Don’t let individuals get away with wrongdoing just because of the color of their skin or the content of their pants.

What would you like to ask to the person to be interviewed after you?Do you feel comfortable in your walk with atheism?

    Happy Birthday drama! Interesting interview!

    Happy Birthday Drama!
I'm weary with right-angles, abbreviated daylight,
Waiting for a winter to be done.
Why do I still see you in every mirrored window,
In all that I could never overcome?

I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

The "stop seeing dead people" and the "happiness is never static" parts are the best.

Happy birthday drama. Geez, as a male I better tread carefully here.

Hey I have never heard of a Treeing Walker hound and I thought I knew all the breeds. Is that a variation of a coonhound?
