Alzheimer part II

my dog hasn't had any 'strange' episodes again but I think I'll pay a visit to the vet soon anyway. like said in the comments for my last blog there is something wrong when a dog dosen't want a treat and my dog usually does everything for a treat. I was told he should be about 20-22 kilos but at one time two years ago or so he was just a little bit over weight.... 32 kilos... and he has arthritis in one shoulder and one elbow so he was put on a diet and I was told I wouldn't get more because of his age than to 25 kilos so I did and now he's 25 and looking so good, even got some muscles. when they are out running free he completely keeps up with sisco the year and a half old dog. I found it very strange that he didn't want the treat, but on the other hand, when he knows I'm trying to make him do something he dosen't want to do he wants nothing from me. if he knows I'm leaving the house and he is outside in the garden and I call for him he dosen't come, he has what I like to call selected hearing... and if he is inside when I leave and I ask him to kiss me goodbye he turns to me like he's gonna give me a kiss but at the last moment he turns away and gives me the cheek. he is a very special dog. never any troubles with him and he is probably my best friend, don't really know what I would do without him. he was my first love and I have never loved anybody except my son of course as much as him.

but enough about that, I'll find out next week if all the classes I signed up for will be taught this semester if not I need to find other classes... but I'm looking forward to this.

I was going to spend my vacation writing a children's book for a competition, but it will end on February first and I have no idea, kid books are not my thing but it would help me out a lot if I'd do it and the worst thing that could happen was that they say no and tell me what I need to work on... they have it every year so I can always do it next year...

If it only happened once Helga, he just may have been confused. But that is heavy. That's 50% more than recommended. That's very heavy. That's like adding half your weight to you. So if you're 80 kilos, then that's like you weighing 120 kilos. But I wouldn't think weight is related to senility, at least not directly. I guess it doesn't hurt to take him to the vet.

I'd be more likely to attribute his being out of sorts to joint discomfort. Even if he is running and playing normally, Arthritis in the shoulder and elbow could make him reluctant to want to jump up into a car. I really don't think senility is the problem at all. Dogs don't forget how much they like food and whatnot, they just come to have reasons not to eat it.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much man. Maybe he just had a little brief stomachache, some nausea, and that's why he didn't want to jump or eat the candy. It could have been something as simple as that, or the joint pain like classic said. With regular visits to the vet, giving him good food and exercise, you're doing everything right to keep him healthy.
