Just for a Moment

Just for a moment,
A snapshot Neanderthal
Of something wonderful.
Just for a moment,
Some parents with offspring
Were playing & splashing.
Just for a moment,
Interglacially
It is really sunny.
Just for a moment,
But the tide occulates
These prehistoric dates.
Just for a moment,
Then the footprints, they fade
That those people had made.
Just for a moment.
Every so often on the shores of the United Kingdom, possibly due to erosion, prehistoric footprints can be seen in the sand. Extinct animals & hominids have been recognised in these interglacial footprints. They look as fresh as the day they were made. Entire families of early humans have been observed. The footprints don't last long & eventually wash away.
