Like E.M. Forster and Edith Wharton before her, Jane Austen is hot. Hot, hot, hot.
And book lovers and moviegoers are celebrating. Four of Austen's six novels have made it or will make it to local theaters or television. In addition to "Clueless," Amy Heckerling's free-form version of "Emma," and the art-house hit "Persuasion," Emma Thompson's adaptation of "Sense and Sensibility" arrives Jan. 19 in Milwaukee. And the Arts and Entertainment television network will show a $9.5 million BBC production of "Pride and Prejudice" at 8 p.m. Jan. 14 through 16.
