Wells and the Purloined Past, investigates an imperfectly known but fascinating episode in Canadian literary and legal history. The book was nominated for a Governor-General's Award for non-fiction in 2000. It is a work of history, but falls within the Simon Schama School of history -- it includes a healthy dose of "creative non-fiction" together with the fruits of traditional research and scholarship.
