Christchurch denied access to great books

As a ratepayer in Burwood, I found it offensive that on visiting my local library I was unable to feed what's left of my brain with time-honoured literature.

The nice lady at the desk advised me that I would find such books at the main library. With a population nearing half a million in Christchurch, there are only single copies of Fyodor Dostoevsky, H. G. Wells, and George Orwell throughout the city.

Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four foresee this type of social engineering -- keeping children uneducated under a communist regime.
