Prolific utopian H.G. Wells (1866-1946), considered by many to be the
father of science fiction, authored some 100 books over the course of his
celebrated career. Heavily influenced by Jules Verne, this prophetic
dreamer's most memorable pieces of prose included such classics as The War
of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The First Men in the Moon and The Time
Machine.
