1. Is it fair to say that Wells used fiction as a vehicle for social
criticism? Justify your opinion with references to at least four of Well's
novels.

Answer: Certainly it is fair to characterize Wells as a social critic
even in his fiction. Of the four novels that I shall refer to, Tono-Bungay
contains the strongest social criticism. In Tono-Bungay, Wells actually points
