``Nadja'' reworks Bram Stoker's`` Dracula'' into a modern schlockfest about vampires loose in New York. Here, Renfield is a pony-tailed, glassy-eyed twentysomething and Count Dracula's daughter is his ever-hungry mistress, a club-hopping vamp.

The black and white movie, which borrows heavily from German expressionist films, arrives here after playing the festival circuit at Sundance and Cannes. It is directed rather amateurishly by Michael Almereyda (``Twister''), but with some standout performances.
