The French Quarter of New Orleans became a Bohemian enclave, home to hundreds of artists, musicians, and writers during the 1920s, including William Faulkner. The artist William Spratling was one of the first to move into the area. Spratling later published a book of caricatures with text by William Faulkner entitled 'Sherwood Anderson and Other Famous Creoles,' on the French Quarter Bohemian denizens.
