The venerable Sherwood Anderson Festival is celebrating its 30th year with several months of events.

It got under way this month with activities that included announcement of this year's winner of the Sherwood Anderson Short Story contest: Steve Gullion of Sugar Land, Texas, won the adult contest with "Some Important Sheila."

Other winners were Justin Greer of Sugar Grove in the high school division, Kasey Michelle Jones of Sugar Grove in the middle school division and Quentin Homes of Chilhowie in the division for grades one through four.
