Chicago-based writer Sherwood Anderson was at the height of his powers when he wrote "Winesburg, Ohio," a collection of short stories all set in one sleepy Ohio hamlet in the latter part of the 19th century. Even today, 85 years after they were first published, Anderson's stories about the passionate, frustrated, stifled and lonely inhabitants of Winesburg are a great read.
