It was an interesting experience to watch, the same week, Steven Spielberg's version of Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park and TNT's version of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's Frankenstein. Spielberg wins on technical effects - though once you've seen one T-Rex you've seen them all. But as a morality tale about hubris, Shelley, who scribbled the novel when she was 18 years old during a rainy summer in Switzerland, wins going away.
The TNT version, with Patrick Bergin as a wild-eyed Celtic Victor Frankenstein, is much closer to the Shelley story than any of the other films.
