The shortlist for this year's Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction has been announced.
Six books will compete for the award and the winning author will receive GBP30,000 in prize money.
The shortlist includes Ian Buruma's book Murder in Amsterdam, the story of the murder of Dutch film-maker Theo van Gogh; Imperial Life in the Emerald City: Inside Iraq's Green Zone by Rajiv Chandrasekaran; and Having It So Good: Britain in the Fifties by Peter Hennessey.
