TJ Binyon has been announced as the winner of the Samuel Johnson Prize for Non-Fiction.
The 63-year-old won the GBP30,000 for his biography of poet Alexander Pushkin, called 'Pushkin'. The book is said to be the first major study for more than 60 years of the man widely regarded as Russia's greatest poet.
Binyon beat five other authors to the award, which is sponsored by BBC Four.
