Harvard University's Houghton Library has inherited one of the largest and most valuable collections relating to Samuel Johnson.

The Donald and Mary Hyde Collection is one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of rare books, manuscripts and letters containing information about Johnson's private and professional life. The library's curator of manuscripts, Leslie A. Morris, said she hoped to have the collection available for use by 2006.
