Screen writer and author Ring Lardner, Jr believes that the Christian Coalition and other religious groups of the Christian right compose the strongest force supporting mass media censorship in the 1990s. He contends that these groups have the combined support of the government and the business community to implement their will. Furthermore, Lardner considers the financial unions of large business enterprises and major new media agencies as another source of promoting censorship of the press.
