Even though she was president of PLATO, Joan McCarthy admitted she felt a little awestruck looking across a banquet hall full of the group's members. Many PLATO-ites in the room that day at the Memorial Union had distinguished themselves as experts in medical, academic and scientific fields, as captains of industry or leaders in their fields.
