VAUXHALL chief Roland Dane has defended the team orders that denied Jason Plato a deserved Auto Trader BTCC victory at Thruxton.

Plato was instructed to pull over while leading the feature race to let French team-mate Yvan Muller go through and complete a winning double.

The sixth race of a 24-event season appeared somewhat early for team orders to be implemented especially when Plato was clearly quick enough to hold Muller at bay.

Derek Warwick, one of the leading lights among Vauxhall's backroom staff, claimed during the feature race that Muller had overtaken Plato ...
