I DON'T know if you're familiar with Aristophanes. A playwright, he expressed his loathing of war and his love of peace in comedies compounded of wit, fantasy, buffoonery, lyrical beauty, uproarious indecency and highbrow parody. At least, that's what it says on this website that I'm just checking.

Allegedly Greek, Aristophanes wowed the Hellenic equivalent of the Fringe and frequently won its top Perrier-style award, the Plato Crap (a bowl of goat dung amidst which was a ribbon-tied classical motto: "It's nice to be nice" - Aristotle; "Right, that's me off" - Socrates; etc).
