Book II Ideal Constitutions And Ideal States
Introduction:
In Book II, Aristotle considers the various best forms of the state. He
remarks that not only have Plato and other famous philosophers proposed models
of what they thought the Ideal State should be, but many people have thought
very highly of constitutions which have actually existed in history. True to
his conviction that all knowledge is based on experience, Aristotle turns to
find out what the "many and the wise" have thought and done in the field of
constitution-making.
