SO now we know what really makes David Beckham tick. It's not those daring sarongs, after all. Or the girlie sandals, or that ridiculous bandana.

It's a thong, according to Posh Spice wife Victoria Adams who revealed on national television that he likes ''wearing her knickers''. And the thought occurs that with a wife like that who needs enemies.

It was P. G. Wodehouse who once said: ''There are men who fear repartee in a wife more keenly than a sword''.

Beckham might just discover the true meaning of that phrase ...
