Dr. Augustus White III, professor of orthopedic surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and faculty member at Harvard Medical School in Boston, was appointed master of the Oliver Wendell Holmes Society, an academic society at Harvard Medical School. White, known for his work in health-care disparity issues for minorities, will mentor and advise students and act as a liaison between students and faculty.
