Once slated for destruction, the refurbished Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior
High School now sparkles in its new role: a senior citizens' home.

The once-ramshackle building on the corner of 55th and Chestnut streets has
been completely renovated, and is now known as the Oliver Wendell Holmes
School Senior Complex and serves as an example of affordable housing.

Dedication ceremonies for this former eyesore brought together elected
officials who'd pushed for the project for the past decade. City
