Burton Awards to Honor Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. Library of Congress to Accept Burton Award After Justice Holmes Named 'The Best Judicial Writer of the Twentieth Century' by Law School Deans.

NEW YORK -- On the 100th anniversary of Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.'s appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court, the former associate justice will be posthumously honored as "The Best Judicial Writer of the Twentieth Century."

The presentation will be part of the annual Burton Awards program to be held on June 18, 2002, at the New York Palace. The Library of Congress, represented by Assistant Librarian of Congress Winston Tabb, will accept the award in Holmes' memory. Following the presentation, the award will be placed on display in the Law Library in the Library of Congress.
