COSTA MESA, Calif. John Milton Morris, who drew award-winning illustrations and political cartoons for Associated Press for more than a half-century, died at age 87.
Mr. Morris died of pneumonia Sunday at a retirement home, said Neal Watts, Mr. Morris' nephew.
Mr. Morris began working in the art department at AP Newsfeatures in New York City in 1935. He retired in 1971, but continued to work for AP on a free-lance basis until 1987.
His first job in the business came in the early 1930s with the Los Angeles Herald-Express. He later worked for a short time with the New York Evening Journal.
