Torquay United have made an historic move in their infrastructure by handing a full contract to chief scout John Milton.

It is the first time that United, who were defending their Blue Square Premier leadership against Droylsden at Plainmoor this afternoon, have made such an official appointment.

It confirms the major role that Milton has played in the building of Paul Buckle's in-form squad.

Milton, a former Exeter businessman, has penned an initial one- year deal as United's scouting co-ordinator, after doing the job on an unofficial basis for the last four months.
