Pity In Heaven:
(Lines 1-62) God knows, of course, that Adam and Eve have fallen. The
angels whom He has sent to guard the two hurry to Heaven to justify their
conduct. The angels in Heaven are saddened by the offense but pity the
offenders, too. God says to the assembled angels, "Don't be dismayed by what
has happened on Earth. The sincerest care of the guardian angels could not
prevent Adam's sin. I told you when the Tempter first escaped Hell that man
