Exiled Soviet theatet director Yuri Lyubimov expressed his desire to return to the Soviet Union in an unusual Soviet newspaper interview that could signal official willingness to allow him back.
Lyubimov was interviewed by the government newspaper Izvestia in Madrid, where he viewed four perfomances by Moscow's Taganka Theater of Maxim Gorky's "Mother."
Lyubimov, 70, founded the Taganka Theater and over 20 years turned it into Moscow's most popular modern theater.
