Americans around the country inspired by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. took part in events honoring him while drawing from the late civil rights martyr's message of a colorblind and high-minded America.
In Atlanta, King's hometown, parade spectators lined the streets dancing to Stevie Wonder's Happy Birthday and listening to King's powerful speeches roaring over loudspeakers.
Thousands of marchers then walked through the district where King grew up and preached at the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.
