Frederick Douglass anniversary honored by great grandson

Frederick Douglass IV, great-great grandson of the famed abolitionist,
author, orator, editor and suffragist, will call for the national
observance on Sept. 3 in honor of his great-great grandfather's escape from
slavery in Baltimore 163 years ago. Mr. Douglass says, "I have chosen the
Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site to announce the national
Frederick Douglass freedom day observance because I believe that Dr. King
was the intellectual heir to my great-great grandfather's role in the
