Now for another reflection on Martin Luther King, Jr. Harlem trombone player Greg Harris has been performing at house concerts on the East Coast with other jazz musicians. During a recent performance in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Harris told a story from his boyhood in Hempstead, Long Island. It was the early 1960s when Reverend King came to Hempstead and Harris and other black children in the area went to see the preacher man.
