As students filed into the cafeteria, the sounds of traditional Mexican music serenaded them. Tables normally bare were decorated with green, red, white and yellow balloons while the scent of Mexican cuisine donated from area restaurants hinted at the feast to follow.
The stage was set at Jack London Middle School in Wheeling for the school's first Mexican Independence Day Celebration to spread awareness of the Mexican culture.
