THE SONOMA VALLEY lured Jack London with its wonderful landscape of hills, fields, streams and mixed forests. Using Glen Ellen as an escape from city life in Oakland, London purchased hundreds of acres in the Valley of the Moon on which to live and create.

Today, 800 acres comprise Jack London State Historic Park, standing as tribute to the man and his creations. It combines the wonder of nature, the ruins of his dream house, his cottage home and innovative farm, a hilltop lake and the grave where he lies, all in a setting almost untouched by time.
