'Jack London' coming to library

SAN LEANDRO -- The San Leandro Library will host a "Meet the Author" event with "Jack London," the world-famous novelist of such literary classics as "The Call of the Wild," "The Sea Wolf" and "White Fang."

The free, interactive performance, portrayed by actor/scholar Michael Oakes, takes place from 1 to 2 p.m. this Saturday at the main library, 300 Estudillo Ave. The event is part of the city's summerlong "San Leandro Reads" program in celebration of the library's 100th anniversary.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Jack London traveled the globe and wrote some 52 books. According to history ...
