Waterfront development booms Jack London Square neighbors complain about noise, traffic

OAKLAND -- The old warehouse district near Jack London Square has been awash in cranes, cement trucks and hard-hatted workers for nearly

five years, and it appears there's no end in sight.

For every new loft, live/work or condominium project that is completed, another is ready to start. There are currently five active construction sites within a four-block area, and three more are on the drawing board. Much of the new development is located within the historic waterfront warehouse district adjacent to the rows of low- slung, open-air produce merchant buildings.
