BACK in 1922, Hugh Lofting created the country doctor, Doctor Dolittle, who was tubby, short, with a round face and very kind.
Doctor Dolittle lived in the country with his dog Jip, pig Gub Gub, duck Dab Dab, monkey Chee Chee, and owl TooToo.
He did not have a lot of imagination when it came to coming up with names, but he did have a special talent - he could talk to animals because he had been taught their language by his parrot, Polynesia.
