The Art Institute of Chicago's theatre and department of drama--established three years earlier through a $350,000 gift from the family of the late playwright Kenneth Sawyer Goodman--are dedicated as the Kenneth Sawyer Goodman Memorial Theatre and School of Drama. Two days later, the theatre presents its first public performance, John Galsworthy's The Forest.
