The Horatio Alger Association, which offers college scholarships to students in need, is now benefiting veterans of Afghanistan and Iraq. Some 700 vets received $5,000 each to aid their quest for a bachelor's degree. This is the association's first round of scholarships specifically targeting vets of these conflicts.
Applications for the Horatio Alger Military Veterans Scholarship are being accepted through July 1, 2006. Eligibility qualifications are listed on its Web site at www.horatioalger.org.
